1/3 yard of contrasting fabric

iron

Step 1

Measure your fabric:

  • Main fabric (A) = 42” by 28”
  • Contrast fabric (B) = 42” by 11”

Step 2

Fold your contrast fabric (B) in half (hot-dog) so the right side of the fabric is showing and iron

Step 3
Pin the ironed contrast fabric (B) to the right side of the main fabric (A).  There should be three raw edges matching
Step 4
Sew through all three layers of the 42” pinned edge using a ½” seam allowance.  Remove pins.  Fold contrast fabric away from main fabric and iron seam flat from both sides of the fabric.

Step 5
Fold in half so right sides of the fabric touch.  [Contrast edges (B) should match up with each other.]  Pin down 28” side edge and across 21” bottom edge.

Step 6

Sew down side, pivot, and sew across bottom using a ½” seam allowance.

Step 7
Remove all pins.  Trim all threads and cut pivoted corner.

Step 8
Turn the pillowcase right side out and iron from both sides. Grade yourself.  Fold pillowcase and pin your grade sheet to the pillowcase, then turn it in.
