The football is the main sewing project completed in 6th grade FCS. It is made of two colors of fur and you will also be sewing felt letters, numbers, or symbols on your football to personalize it.
Footballs are purchased by the school through the FCS budget from Haan Crafts.

Step 1:
Using only the tips of the shears cut out
your football on all the solid lines.
Step 2:
Cut out the letters, numbers, or shapes
you want to put on your football (you can fit up to 3).
Step 3:
Arrange the letters on the fur side of
the football. Use some SMALL drops of glue to hold the letters
on. Sew around the outline of each letter using the running
stitch.
Step 4:
Pin one green fur section to one white
fur section with FURRY SIDES TOUCHING and with the "A" and "B" marks
matching. Pin the sections together.
Step 5:
Sew from "A" to "B" on one side of the
fur section using the overcast stitch.
Step 6:
Repeat steps 6 with the other two fur
sections.
Step 7:
Pin the two football halves together
from point "A" to point "B" on each side, making sure the colors
alternate (green touching white fur sides together).
Step 8:
Stitch around leaving an opening between
one set of lines.
Step 9:
Turn the football right sides out.
Step 10:
Stuff the football, starting with the
ends.
Step 11:
Hand stitch the opening closed.
Step 12:
Using a pin or a comb gently run
along the seam lines to pull the fur out.
Step 13:
Grade yourself using the football
rubric. Pin the rubric to your football and turn it
in.
